Steve Dressel, Director of Alternative Worship

Steve is originally from the Chicago area, by way of Quincy, IL, Madison, WI, and Waukee, IA. Besides music ministry, Steve also has a law degree and is interested in lifelong faith formation at churches and in campus ministry. Steve lives in Waukee with his family, including his wife, Donna, and three kids - Maggie (21), Peter (18) and Kate (13). Maggie and Peter attend the University of Iowa. Although Donna has a history of church ministry as well, she currently works part-time at EmbarkIT, a West Des Moines computer provider.

Steve’s vision for alternative music at WHLC is to "refresh, affirm, and sometimes challenge people with music. To create meaningful opportunities for all who wish to participate. To inspire more and more to understand and appreciate the music around us and within us.” Steve is excited about ministry at WHLC because of “the enthusiasm and openness of people that gather. The message.  Unleashing the song within each one of us. The caring staff. Abundant opportunities for growth musically and spiritually. Finding and making connections.” If you have an interest in music, Steve would love to chat with you about it. Click here to email Steve.
